THE 5 PILLARS OF GREAT SINGING

There's a lot more to great singing than meets the eye. You may think that the most crucial thing is singing the right pitches in sequence. You're right! After all, no one wants to listen to a singer who sings off-pitch.
But there's so much more!
These are the five pillars of singing. If you master all of these, you'll be a truly amazing singer.

 

 

Physiology
The physical properties of your body and vocal tract. This is basically the shape and size of your instrument and represents the predetermined factor.

Technique
This can be learned and trained. It includes factors such as posture, breathing, register transitions, intonation, articulation, support, etc.

Musicality
Mastery of counting, tempo, phrasing, dynamics, accentuation, expressiveness, appropriate style.

Psychology
As a singer, your body is your instrument and therefore part of YOU. Your voice is also very personal. Working on confidence so you can sing without inhibitions is essential in order to fully utilize your skills.

Performance
It's how you connect to your audience or bring your personality into your studio performance. You must tell a story and convey your message in an authentic way.
